Apps You Can Use To Stay Connected!

Written by Morgan Tobin

This article will be ordered in age groups, the first ones being the best for the younger kids and the final ones for tweens and teenagers.

Houseparty

Houseparty is a mobile app that is family-friendly and safe for kids in the younger age field who have no emails. Houseparty is a video chat app that not only allows you to call each other but also allows you to play all sorts of games. It’s a great substitute for zoom for big family calls and is highly recommended. You will also get a notification every time one of your friends is online!

Zoom

Yes, you all know it by now. Zoom is a great software to use when communicating with big groups of people. You simply send a code or link to the people you want to invite to the zoom and they will be able to join.

Google Meet

Great if you are school friends or just a bunch of kids who have emails. We all already know it is used for online classes around the world, but you can also use it for just hanging out with friends, don’t try to refrain from using it just for schoolwork!

Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts allows you to text and call people with a Gmail. It is very similar to Google meets, it just also has a chat feature and a different template for calls. If you don’t have a phone and want to message friends, this is a great way to do it.

Discord

This is a personal favorite of gamers, but recently, many have used it as a way of communication. Discord is an app that allows you to communicate in many different ways. You can DM someone, set up a group chat with friends, or make a server where you can set up text or voice channels. With voice channels, you and your friends can just talk or share their screen or face. Discord is meant for an older age group and is mainly recommended for teenagers and older tweens.

Hopefully, this article will help to keep more people connected over the quarantine, with friends and family!
